No Large Scale Production Awaited .

Sonata:
Interim report

I think I could speed up with practice ... but whether I'd want to take up peg doll making on a regular basis is another matter . The alacrity with which I shot out of the door to wander round town and have a beer on a sunny terrace probably answers that ( mind you , sunny or not , it was cold ) .

But it was fun to rummage around and see what I had that was tiny enough to decorate them with .... though rather alarming to realise that I'm still a Scot at heart . The Tartan Army football supporters' bunnet on Doll One was unintentional .... I had been aiming for a little Gallic beret .

And , on a more cultural level , the Judi Dench book is good , I'm enjoying it , though her sheer niceness is chastening to those of us who are less so . The C.Ds are all good , including an odd handful picked up in the library . Just one thing : If you ever have the opportunity to listen to the Willie Nelson c.d. , "Naked Willie" , be sure to be sitting down before his rendition of "Bring Me Sunshine" . If you happen to be standing in the kitchen , chopping an onion , it might take you by surprise , you might laugh till you hiccup and crafting fingers could be at risk .

A lot of the fun of crafting is in the rummaging, and your results are delightful. The little peg dolls are so sweet. Judi Dench is one of my favourites. Watching some of the outtakes on Youtube of the "As Time Goes By" television series is very entertaining! She is incredibly versatile and talented when you consider all she has done.

They are adorable! But fiddly to make, I imagine. The most work, as well as the most fun, in making a new quilt is in the rummaging through what you have to see what will work.......Sounds like a very relaxing w.e.

These things come and go, like Dotties and in particular Mermaid Dotties, managed to get about one dozen made amidst much exclamations of cuteness before I got sick of the fiddling.

I shouldn't chortle, but after catching up on the previous post, I find your peg doll-making entirely giggle worthy (not that they're not beautifully and fastidiously and Scottishly attired, of course).

They are cute though!

I'll have to get Husband to look for that cd next time he's in the music library.

My only experience of making peg dolls didn't leave me wanting to make more. The idea is better than the reality.

I'm off in search of 'Naked Willie' too...

I'm with mountainear on peg dolls. Love the idea, love yours, but way too fiddly for me. I am a big admirer of Judi Dench too. Must look for the biography.

As long as there are no Naked Willie pictures included in the liner notes, I'll have a look for it.

The dolls are darling...

Is the Judi Dench a hagiography? she is a brilliant actress whom i admire tremendously (she is good on stage too) but gossip has it that she is an extremely exacting person to be around.

wandering around town for a beer and a look-see sounds a lot more enticing to me than making dolls. But there's no accounting for taste, is there. If only I had a town to wander around in and have a beer in.
the village pub is all of three minutes away, a very steep three minutes, but still.

I had to dwell a while on when I used to make these many years ago, and how I had to pester my mother to buy me packets of pipe-cleaners for the arms and how Nana saved scraps of fabric for my efforts. I might have another go... Thank you.

How cute!

Re: Judi Dench... I have a biography that she wrote herself, and I really love that book. She is one of my all-time favorites. What a character!
