Things Which Seem Unnecessary ....

Sonata:

There are lots of things which seem totally unnecessary . Tinned mushrooms , frozen mashed potato, lace gloves , dried parsley , prettily patterned loo paper , fancy covers for tissue boxes ( though a Day-Glo orange one would be useful at work where speed is of the essence when engaged in Mucus Transference Limitation ) , those egg racks in 'fridge doors , hair before noon ( think of the time saved when rushing to work and , besides , wooly hats are cosy and don't involve going to the hairdresser every six weeks ) , gold Hot Pants for 0-3 month olds ( I'm not making these up ) , those stickers superglued to each and every supermarket apple , three remote controls per television , all the options on my mobile except for Call , and what started this train of thought today .....

the allergy advice on my packet of pistachios this weekend . You may have your own list .....

Oh, it seems unnecessary unless you're an attorney with a client with an allergy to nuts and a raging case of hives.
...a stupid client, I need not add.

I just have to browse the L***land catalogue, or similar, to wonder just how useful most of the gadgets and gimmicks on offer really are.

Oooh, this could go on forever. I could add most of the contents of my house!

Hear, hear for 'hair before noon'. In fact, 'hair ever'! What I could have done with my life had I not had hair to deal with...

So very right - super superfluous stipulations really get my goat too. I would like to banish all Bettaware sales people, sorry peeps, but you've been conned.

But if these things are totally superfluous to requirements, then somebody somewhere isn't making money on them.

Friko - No , they seem totally unnecessary to me .... but not , obviously to everyone .
And I only included things which I don't like . I buy lots of things which I could , of course , do without , and have stopped heaving a sigh over the "Caution .Hot Drink" warnings on take-away coffee .

I'm glad they did at least reassure you that the packet of pistachios contained pistachios as well as 'other nuts'.

The world is full of unnecessary things but every now and again I find myself stopping and thinking, 'Now that looks useful.'

Oh thank god .. pistachios ... in there? check and double check. Big signs on prams, capsules, bouncers etc that say babies should not be left unattended ... but how do I go to the toilet????????

You are a woman after my own heart. I think we invent things to buy, usually shipped from China, issue idiotic warnings and confuse with reams of small print.

Sorry for jumping in here with a completely unrelated comment, but I just had to share (in case you haven't been by my blog yet)...

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the movie Casablanca, it is being shown ON THE BIG SCREEN once more! All over the USA!!! One night only: March 21, 2012.

Visit my blog for a link to a list of participating theaters.

I'm so excited, I'm telling everybody!!!

See, normally, I'd be in like Flynn with my own list as long as my arm. It's just that I'm so overwhelmingly heartened that there are indeed pistachios in that bag of pistachios. WOW!

What a fabulous list. I shall have my mind running on this all day now!
