No , Of Course I Didn't !

Of course I didn't start 2014 by jumping off the river bank , wearing a red pom-pom hat !
But I did cheer as about a hundred others did  just that , this morning  while a brass band , teetering in a boat nearby , played "Yellow Submarine". One likes to encourage endeavour  in whatever field .

( And no , I didn't push the woman  with the big head and her Cossack friend over the edge either , when they nipped in front of me as the count down began . )  This restraint mayhave been be due , in part , to not yet being fully awake...
New Year's Eve had been quite strenuous , what with sitting on the sofa , watching Spanish television till midnight and the eating of 12 grapes to ensure good luck for the year to come
Then rushing outside to see the Leeuwarden sky full of fireworks in all directions  for fifteen minutes , till our ears rang and our teeth chattered . Back inside , change channels , and it was time for Jools Holland , Scottish pipers and Charlie Wilson et al .
My first ear-worm of the year is Oops Upside My Head  ... and the first event in the social calendar till now would seem to be  the Pea Soup World Championships in Groningen in February . It's can only get better ... I hope your 2014 does too !!

Happy New Year!

NYE just has to include Jools Holland (though I think the time has come for Ray Davies to hang up the mic).

Your pea soup world championship sounds healthier than the one here which is all about that artery clogging local delicacy, The Parmo.

Good Grief ! Sounds tasty , but I'm not sure whether the 20 foot long version wasn't a bit too much of a good thing !

Happy New Year! We gave Jools a miss this year and actually went out. I think he's great but feel rather cheated when I remember it's all been pre-recorded.

What, you didn’t jump in yourself? Cowardy Custard!

Your New Year’s Eve seem to have been a riot, Spanish TV and Jools Holland. My, what fun.

I can’t remember what we did, apart from feeding the dog tranquilisers and still having to crouch on the floor with her to calm her down.

I am certain TV came into it somewhere.

Happy New Year! You always make me laugh. I'd have shoved old furry-hat and his date into the water - you know, so they'd have a real closeup look at the action. 8-)

You have all the fun.... We old fogeys went to bed before midnight, although we talked for long enough to wish each other a Happy New Year. We heard three or four fireworks go off, which for round these parts is pretty radical celebrating!
