A homeward treat....

Smitonius:

I treated myself to some flowers on the way home: look, white cornflowers and blue scabious (an unfortunate name for a flower - can't see it catch on for girls: 'Now, Scabious, hold my hand while we crosss the road').

I must say, I have really been enjoying reading who has spotted celebs:
Jane has served Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward in the V&A shop circa 1987 (they bought a poster of Sir John Gielgud).
Rachel has seen Labour politican Robin Cook (and then she wrote a good story about not recognizing Boby Robson - mind you, I doubt I would have)
Lesley has seen Sigourney Weaver! (that is cool, but she has a good story about her dad and the Rolling Stones)
Friko has seen Alan Bennet (and, so have I! Celebrity snap!)
Jinksy has seen Zoe Wanamaker (and so have I! Celebrity snap II - she was ... slightly worse for the wear ... in a Deli in Islington)
Monix has seen Frank Ifield (Who? I said, but my partner says he yodelled - hopefully not all over Monix).
Lovethose cupcakes has seen Lauren Bacall (now I AM ENVIOUS indeed).
Lucille has a knack of spotting nice men (e.g. Michael Palin and Alan Titchmarsh)
Marcheline has a fine list of American names, like Ray Liotta (but I think she has seen many more famous people but won't kiss and tell - she was a flight attendant!)

Not Scabious but I recently met a young Fuschia.
In my days in London I saw a few, some were parents of kids I taught.Funny thing about celebs they're people too!

One of my neighbours has a much-loved old dog called Flower. When she had a baby last year, she named her Flora, and when people suggested that she might have named the baby after the dog, she admitted that yes, perhaps she had.....

Since we live in the sticks we don't see many celebrities, unless you count local big wigs like the former school superintendent who put her make-up on with a trowel, dyed her long hair blonde, and dressed like a practitioner of an ancient profession! Made you wonder if someone who spent that much time tricking herself out should really be in charge of educating the young.....

I know a Dahlia, does that count? Or could it be Delilah?

I met Julie Christie in a cafe in Moscow. And Will self in a cafe right here. Not much of a comparison...
MrH had a friend whose mother was called Flower.

I once served soup to Michael Foot! He was in Aberystwyth and came into the cafe/bar I worked at, with his entourage and his scruffy dog. He gave half the soup to the dog!!

I would trade all the famous people I've met just for one "Hello" from Judi Dench. Or Anthony Hopkins.

P.S. I used to have a huge crush on Alan Titchmarsh

Oh, HANG ON! I used to serve Shane Warne (cricketer extraordinaire) at the pub in Brighton on an occasional Thursday night. Mostly with scabious (not floral) accomplices.

Try calling her Scabby for short, that's work, no?
