Well , It Took A While ....

Sonata:
but Summer has finally arrived and we're not all wearing fifteen layers of woolies and a balaclava .

Everyone has moved outside . Little side streets are full of people with a cup of tea , a good book and dozing cat

The hollyhocks are looking lovely

The local open air Flea Market has started again
My summer curtains are growing nicely and there are tiny tomatoes already !!

Some enormous wild flower has settled in outside my front door in the middle of the calendulas , lavender and snapdragons and is wildly popular with bees . There's a lovely buzzzzzz every time I come home .

The two black swans from the City Farm are lending a much needed touch of glamour to the trip to the supermarket again

And just in time . On Friday the summer holidays begin ...!!!

All looks lovely and just like summer should. I think your flower might be borage. It is a fab colour!

Yes, borage definitely. Summer has gone from here. Torrential rain and howling winds, just as a hosepipe ban has been enforced due to the drought caused by a bit of sunshine. Bah. I was just getting to like it as well.

Borage flowers in Pimms, frozen in ice cubes, added to a salad - just check for bees before consuming....

Rachel said what I was going to say - toss the borage flowers in a salad!

I love the rose on that housefront.

How very nice that you've left that wild flower to grow as it pleases! Such a delightful place, Holland is - one day I'd like to get to know it better.

I know you are sometimes moved to be rude about Holland, but you have to admit, it is such an appealing country.

Happy Holidays!

I love the term Flea Market, where everything is for sale - except fleas! Enjoy the holidays...

That flea market stall looks very enticing - why can't ours be more like that?

Your summer sights looks quite enticing too.

Ooooh! I love your 'curtains' ... and to be wandering through that flea market ... gorgeous - must be a nice world cup buzz in the air around your parts too?

I love the idea of streets being full of people sitting outside. It doesn't happen here any more, or not much, though in this hot weather everyone has their windows wide open to let in the air...might as well be out in the street, really

I think the Dutch do curtains (i.e. barely ever and then only growing summery ones) better than anybody.

What lovely signs of summer!

I like your summer curtains. I saw some lovely New Zealand ones at Tiny Happy too although I suppose hers were winter ones!

I wish I could cultivate some hollyhock curtains. Sadly they seem to thrive growing out of cracks in the pavement and get all rusty and sad in my flowerbed! P x
