It's Probably Too Early To Claim A Miracle Cure But ...

Sonata: I've been getting more and more weary , lately  . By last week , I thought if it got any worse , I'd be clinging onto the furniture to get round the flat and having to climb a flight of stairs was enough to put me off going to the library .
Today , while I'm not running the four-minute mile or auditioning for the Cambuur cheerleaders , I do look a lot less like Dracula's latest victim . Almost perky , in fact . I've started taking iron tablets and feel as though I've risen from the dead .
It's just a pity that I still can't do high kicks .... Next week , perhaps .

That's good news. Did you diagnose yourself, or did you have blood tests? If the former, might the latter be an additional Good Idea?

Good stuff! It's amazing what just a little thing can change.

I'm glad you have pom poms to kick with. Wouldn't be worth kicking else.

Anaemia. It's not good is it? It sneaks up and knocks me over every now and again. Glad the iron levels and heels are on the up!!

I am glad you are feeling more full of vim. Iron uptake is enhanced in the presence of Vitamin C. I expect you know that. Might I second Rachel's suggestion? Bodies are such complicated things.

Yes , I've got an appointment tomorrow with the doctor to see if it's what's called here , rather alarmingly , 'blood poverty' ( what I keep on thinking of as amnesia! )or something else .
YMeanwhile , you could pick me up and rattle me in the morning what with the iron tablets and Vit C ones . Might be easier and tastier to have a steak and salad for breakfast ...

Whilst I'm all in favour of self medicating, the GP appointment really does make good sense. (Wouldn't want you to end up in the situation I found myself which resulted in an emergency admission to hospital and a transfusion.)

I have to take the tablets as a matter of routine (usually at least 3 times a day). It keeps me perkier and means I can give blood donations (they check the levels there as well). Like the steak idea.

So glad you're feeling better - isn't it great when you find the thing you've been needing?

Good yo hear of the improvement == I've had similar low spells caused by lack of Vitamin D and, earlier, by a hypoactive thyroid. It's wonderful when a tiny daily pill can make such a difference.

When I was fifty I had a spell like this, for the usual reason. I could barely walk upatairs and was breathless when I got there. All things pass away, however, and this did too.
Loved your simile some posts back about the "line of cowled monks". Those still in work don't quite grasp how retirement will be, seeing only the freedom.

Sorry I’m late, I’ve been off-blog lately.
Love Oma’s apple cake, who cares about the overflow; I bet it taste good anyway.

Sorry too you have been off-colour. Iron can work wonders. I’m less than a dynamo myself, too hot and under a big cloud of beta blockers for two weeks.
Bother getting old and feeble.
