Three Cats And A Gadget

Sonata:
Absolutely nothing of any interest happened this week . It rained , sometimes the sun shone . The house didn't fall down and we ate omniverously , but in moderation . I even noticed in time that my favourite mug's handle was cracked across and avoided a lapful of tea .So all I've got to show you is three cats and a gadget .

First this nifty and rather beautiful wooden bread slicer ( c. 1920s ) which I coveted the moment I saw it in a small cabinet in the corner of an old church . Once used by a small religious community in Leiden , I feel it would be a great success these days in foodie circles , given the interest in good bread .

And , because there are times when I still miss having one .... three very fine cats .

This one seemed to want to be a cheerleader

This one was carved by Johan Coenraad Altorf in 1939 as part of a wall panel for a Den Haag board room

And this one was added by Middle Daughter to a card she sent a few days ago and echoes my sentiments precisely

Oh yes , and I had a birthday .

Brave of you to admit to another birthday. Congratulations and many happy returns.

Some weeks are like that, birthdays notwithstanding, the only good thing being that the house doesn't fall down.
Perhaps adopting a cat would help?

Birthdays seem to become less exciting as we age, don't they? I would quite happily forget mine altogether, but all those years of drumming the date into people completely distracted by Christmas has made it impossible now.....

Happy birthday anyway; I agree with Friko, but think it should be two cats.....

Well, Happy Birthday to you! I'm only one behind you....not gloating or anything, you understand, but these figures seem unreal, don't they? How could they possibly apply to US? Only other people are old. I may LOOK like them, but in my head and heart I'm not a day over twenty five....

I wanted to see your cheerleader cat up close but clicked and clicked in vain. He would not grow.

Sorry about my photos non-growability . Smitonius' do but for some reason mine don't .
But if you click on our Flickr button , you'll see another photo of the cheerleader with her pompoms .... and that one will get bigger , if not cheer

Happy birthday! Fancy keeping that quiet... Love the cat planter. Was the slicer for sale? Maybe Lakeland will make one if you send in the design, plastic though...

Belated birthday greetings. As someone once said, birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Happy Birthday, it's only a number....well, that's what I think, you're as young as you feel.....

I'm still missing my cat, I keep thinking she's still here.
Take care
Jude
