Is this a form of torture?

Smitonius:

On speaking last night on the phone with Sonata, she talked about the freezing temperatures and the daily wrestling with icy weather in northern Holland where she lives. Having bought a new gadget over Xmas (the Ipod touch), I have been comparing the difference in the weather between the various cities and countries our relatives live in: press on weather icon, swipe across daily temperature tables for London, Leeuwarden, Leicester and Tiverton, and it is clear that my mother is living through an ice age. So, in the face of this, should I be uploading this photo of my recent visit to Jekyll Island?

I was thinking of her though, see what I wrote on the sand!

Locals were complaining of the cold, but it was like a mild Autumn day for us northern Europeans. Plus, whilst we visited, there was a special treasure hunt for glass floats: click on 'discover island treasures' to have a look. We were not lucky, but plenty of people have been....

Aaah, what would we do without the weather? I have all of my 'favourite'places loaded onto a computer page and I scan them regularly. It's all a bit like horoscopes though round here, they make suggestions and predictions but it rarely turns out quite like that...

Gotta love the weather, little we ordinary people can do about it so might as well enjoy what comes our way whatever it is.

Those trees look like our trees! But it's been co-o-o-l-d! Many palm trees are looking very shrivelled and frozen....

here in st. paul we just completed a city-wide treasure hunt for a medallion, buried in ice and snow.

Patently evil, worse than 'chinese burns' from my kids torture. Lucky holiday lady.

Oh, maybe she can feel the heat radiating out from the photo! I have lots of writing in sand photos too but most of mine have doggy pawprints spoiling them!

What a lovely blog! Love your drawing in the sand...
Yes, I totally understand your thoughts (on mine)....I dunno, there is just something seriously freaky about Ouija boards...that i don't get from other oracles.

When my brother and his work team were shipped from northernmost English town Berwick on Tweed to Columbus, Georgia, they found the locals swaddled in puffa jackets while the British flung themselves, whooping, into the outdoor swimming pools. One country's 68 degrees' hot day is another's Ice Age!

A little cruel, but lovely photos!
