As If !

Sonata :
I was going to blog about the Fresian Street Festival , held in town this weekend . About the fish on stilts , the Dragon boats , the man who'll chew your sihouette out of a slice of toast while you wait , the trampolining jugglers , the guitars , the escaping balloons and wailing toddlers , the two young ladies who sang operatic airs in a caravan .

And then I got distracted and drew this instead . Today , the last day , is the highlight of the three day jamboree , complete with Festival Princess Day in the Prinsentuin . A sea of rosy-pink , sequinned , tulle-frothed glory for the under-tens . And it's poured all day .

And Husband , when I mentioned this , showed , for a man who's watched three daughters grow up , a complete lack of understanding of the pre-teen female psyche .

"They'll just have to wear their macs . "

Nothing worse than a grumpy princess...I'll have the toast thanks!

Macs!! Kids don't wear anything sensible these days. And it's not cool to have a brolly. I do both raincoat and brolly, having the sort of hair that frizzes at the least touch of moisture. Your jamboree sounds really good, I hope you do have some pictures for us...love your drawing, though.

I haven't a single doubt that not a pre-teen in sight was wearing a mac. Bummer about the sodden tulle-froth.

Oh how I want to see a man chewing silhouettes from toast! I have no such access to High Culture, and I'm envious......

I want my silhouette chewed from toast! I wonder of any such brilliance will ever come to these Antipodes. I love the drawing of the crabby princess. I have one of those myself. She unshakably believes tulle to be perfectly suitable winter attire.

There's nobody like a man for stating the obvious. Totally unimaginative souls, they have.

That is certainly a daughter-to-dad look you've featured there!

This in reply to your last comment on my blog (why oh why don't you have an email address for such times? Go on, it would be great to reply to those comments that have me laughing tears!):

Spacing on Blogger isn't a problem, I don't think; I have noticed that you struggle with it though. Mysterious! New Editor, now, that can be erratic, and finding photos from your computer is always a step into the unknown.....

Heavens! New Editor ? What's that ??
And , astonishingly, I can find photos but spacing is beyond me .... as , in fact , is changing the order they're in once I've downloaded them . But considering I type with one finger , can't drag and paste or remember my name most days , I'm pleased I can blog at all !
